A discussion forum post on Monday serves as a reminder that with nicer weather comes the return of those with apparent not-so-nice intentions plying their trade outdoors.
In the post, member Calcium shared a surveillance photo and later a video of alleged would-be thiefâs seemingly systematically going from car door to car door in the hopes of eventually finding one left unlocked. A truck was found to be unlocked and rummaged through in the area said to be on Willowdale Cres West of 34th street.
Monday's Brandon Police Service release also notes a report of individuals trying car doors on the 800 block of 18th street on the same night, then Tuesdayâs release speaks of a car on Dogwood Blvd was rummaged through after a garage was broken into the previous night.
In the recent Brandon Police Service Annual Report for 2018 a meaningful increase in Crimes Against Property was noted from the previous year (3634 vs 3074). In an effort to help reduce the vehicle break-in portion of that number Police have in recent months been conducting an âItâs 9 oâclock, Lock it Upâ campaign with the knowledge that an increase in locked vehicles reduces successful vehicle entries like whatâs seen in the picture attached to this post.
