Thunderbird Bowl announced in April an ambitious update to their “under one roof” establishment that was to take place in multiple phases over the course of spring and summer. A feature piece as part of the first stage in the update to the facility, which now goes by T-Birds Food Fun Games, was to be the re-purposing of the main level restaurant space into a “high-end redemption video gaming” arcade area and utilizing the upstairs area as a more general Grill & Bar dining area.
T-Birds shared today that that new area is moving full steam ahead towards a grand opening this weekend including a setup crew and shipment that arrived this morning with 30 of the games that will make up their arcade/gaming setup. When up and running the system will make use of a card system on which folks playing games can accumulate rewards points, later to be redeemed for a host of prizes small to large. I had a chance to preview what some of those potential redemptions will be today, noting items as large as popular current video game systems and an Apple Watch.
Grand opening of the new area is scheduled for Saturday at noon. The bowling alley portion of the facility is to remain open through all renovations.
