Farm Operator/ Equipment Mechanic
Spud Plains Farms Ltd. plants 20,500 acres of crop per season on their farmable land which sprawls over south-western Manitoba from the banks of the Assiniboine River near Shilo, through the sandy hills of Carberry, north into the dark soil of Neepawa, and most recently west to the loamy soil of Rivers. We grow over 6,000 acres of potatoes including Ranger Russet,Dakota, Russet Burbank and seed across 12,500 acres of irrigated land. Rotation crops include canola, wheat, rye, and corn.
We are seeking individuals with the following :

- Strong communication skills
- Reliable and punctual
- Effective time management and problem solving skills
- Mechanically inclined with basic knowledge of farm equipment
- Knowledge and understanding of the latest GPS equipment
- Able to work extended hours and weekends as needed
- Knowledge and understanding of workplace health and safety
- Class 5 drivers licence with reliable transportation to and from work, class 1 is an asset
Job description includes but not limited to:
- Daily inspection and maintenance of equipment
- Operate new John Deere tractors w/ auto steer GPS
- Operation of a broad range of tillage equipment
- Possibility to plant, harvest, and/or spray
- Hauling various products with a Tri-Drive standard transmission truck (seed potatoes, grain, Liquid/dry fertilizer, water)
- Rebuild and maintain equipment throughout winter season
- Keep all work areas clean and organized
- Keep up on maintenance records for equipment
- Building and yard maintenance as needed
