ACCOUNTS PAYABLE CLERK
BHP Mechanical Service Group Ltd., formally Brandon Heating & Plumbing, Grand Valley Mechanical, and Super Plumbing and Heating, is a growing mechanical service and construction company specializing in HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, and mechanical services across Manitoba and Saskatchewan. We support both commercial and residential clients and are committed to operational excellence, financial discipline, and long-term growth.
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounts Payable Clerk to join our finance team in Brandon.
Position Summary
You will be responsible for managing the company?s accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, subcontractor payments, expense reimbursements, and related financial records.
This role is full time, monday - friday, 8am - 5 pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Process vendor invoices and subcontractor bills in a high-volume environment
- Match purchase orders, work orders, and invoices for accuracy
- Assist in inventory, warranty, and parts procurement and returns
- Code expenses to appropriate GL accounts
- Prepare and process frequent EFT and cheque runs
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Monitor and manage AP aging reports
- Assist with GST/PST tracking and documentation
- Maintain organized digital records and documentation
- Support month-end closing procedures
- Assist Controller / Accounting Manager with reporting as required
Qualifications
- 2+ years experience in Accounts Payable or bookkeeping
- Strong understanding of accounting principles
- Experience with accounting software
- Strong computer skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and professionalism when dealing with vendors
Preferred Experience
- Experience in construction, mechanical, or service-based industries
- Familiarity with purchase order workflows
- Knowledge of GST/PST (Manitoba & Saskatchewan considered an asset)
