Maintenance Team Member

Position Summary
Oak Island Resort & Golf is looking for reliable, hardworking, and team-focused individuals to join our Maintenance Team. This role supports the day-to-day upkeep of the resort, including the campground, marina, golf course, clubhouse, grounds, buildings, equipment, and guest areas.
Maintenance staff play a major role in keeping the resort clean, safe, functional, and welcoming for guests. This position is hands-on and requires someone who is comfortable working outdoors, using tools and equipment, solving problems, and jumping in wherever needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain resort grounds, roads, campsites, marina areas, buildings, and common spaces.
- Perform general repairs and maintenance on facilities, equipment, docks, signage, fencing, and landscaping.
- Operate maintenance equipment such as mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, trimmers, pressure washers, and basic power tools.
- Assist with garbage removal, site cleanup, washroom/shower house upkeep, and general housekeeping of outdoor areas.
- Conduct Water testing.
- Support campground, marina, golf course, and clubhouse operations as required.
- Complete daily inspections and report equipment defects, hazards, damages, or safety concerns.
- Assist with water, sewer, electrical, and site service-related maintenance under direction.
- Set up and tear down for events, seasonal openings, closures, and special projects.
- Maintain safe work areas around guests, children, campers, golfers, and marina users.
- Follow all Oak Island safety policies, procedures, and supervisor instructions.
Qualifications
- Previous maintenance, landscaping, construction, farming, equipment operation, or general labour experience is considered an asset.
- Mechanical aptitude and basic repair skills are preferred.
- Ability to safely operate equipment and tools.
- Valid driver?s licence is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and a professional attitude with guests and coworkers.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and fit for duty.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift, carry, bend, walk, stand, and perform physical labour throughout the shift.
Safety Requirements
Employees are expected to:
- Wear required PPE.
- Report hazards, near misses, injuries, equipment damage, and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Follow safe work procedures.
- Operate only equipment they have been trained and authorized to use.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Work respectfully around guests, coworkers, contractors, and the public.
Work Schedule
This position may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on operational needs. Oak Island Resort & Golf is a seasonal and guest-focused operation, so flexibility during peak periods is important.
Compensation
Wage will be based on experience, qualifications, and position requirements.
