Anyone who has had a good experience selling a home privately, would you share how “easy” it was? I know a realtor is the professional way to go, but looking to save some $$$

My husband and I have both bought and sold property privately both independently before we met and after we were married. We have also bought and sold property using a realtor.  
 
We had really good experiences with our private deals - in pretty much all our cases it was by word of mouth we found our properties or our buyers found us. So there was some degree of knowing who the person was before hand, which helped the confidence. We were also very confident in the properties we were both buying and selling. The expenses were low, only the lawyer's fees to do the paperwork.  
 
We have had excellent dealings with realtors too, which was very helpful to us moving to Brandon because we didn't have a lot of knowledge of the neighbourhoods or the problems that can crop up with houses in this neck of the woods. She was fabulous. But then weirdly, we didn't use her when we made our next move (also with a realtor), and we seriously regret it. It has cost us a great deal of time and money. If we were to buy again, I think I might prefer to buy from the owner directly where I can get more information about the property instead of relying on a proxy (i.e. realtor).  
 
So, moral being that selling (and buying) private works well. We have had nothing but positive experiences. Realtors... not so much.

And you shouldn’t have a problem. Houses don’t sell when they are priced incorrectly.

Its worth a try you might get what you want, and you might save some commission, there's no guarantee you will get more ,but you have nothing to lose by trying, if it doesnt work out hire a realtor.I bought a house privately its no more difficult than with a realtor but an owner can lie his ass off and get away with it most times where a realtor can face consequences that are easier for you, to take care of, if they screw up.

I’ve only sold using a realtor so can’t really compare and contrast that.  
 
I’ve bought both ways. I found them pretty equal. Get a home inspection and get the vendor to make a statement on the house - your lawyer will make sure.  
 
It’s your lawyer and not the realtor who adds the value and confidence to the deal I found.
