I may not be popular for saying this

But I mean seriously. Has anyone looked at how much money you can save by shopping in the US or on line?
I just bought new running shoes for about a hundred bucks less than I would pay at Sport Chek! That includes shipping, and whether or not I pay the GST/PST is basically whether or not customs checks the package. Either way, it's still significant.
In the US at a town near us, you can save over $5.oo PER BUNDLE of shingles! If you are doing an 80 bundle job, thats like $400! The shingles are MADE IN CANADA! I've seen the label!
I know buying local is important, and I want to, but seriously, when you are saving 25% on average with groceries, what are you supposed to do?
Gas alone is almost 20 cents a litre cheaper.
Does anyone else think we get gouged? This makes me so mad!
Retailers have to start giving up their margins and provide a viable alternative to going out of town for major purchases. People will find it still more cost effective to go to Minot for school supplies and Christmas shopping. THere's also a Wal-Mart in Bottineau now.
Comments? Am I just a cheap b*****d?
When the dollar is par, you get a good understanding of what retailers have been charging over and above the retailer in the US.
