I've got a CIBC Visa Dividend card that pays cash back but I recently received new terms in the mail and it looks like (after some nice smoke and mirrors) that they are scaling back on the reward and increasing the annual fee. I want to research some other cards. I've seen some good MasterCard Dividend cards but I'm wondering if Mastercard is as widely accepted as Visa is??  
or American Express for that matter?

Weird. My CIBC Dividend Visa has no annual fee - are there different levels of the Dividend card? I also have a MasterCard - I seem to have trouble using my Visa for online purchases so I got a cash back MasterCard also which always seems to work for online purchases.

Yes. I have never owned a VISA, have had MC for over 20 years. Never had it not accepted, even when travelling etc.

A couple of years ago I moved up to a higher level card ?Infinite that pays back a higher cash back - 2%. It also gives free cancellation and baggage insurance and free rental car insurance. Now they are going to be nice and give me a whopping 4% on gas and groceries ONLY, 1% on other purchases and scale back the insurance. AAAND I don't have to do diddly squat to accept these new terms, just keep using my card. Thanks CIBC

i have a world travel MC and it gives the same as you had, i have never had an issue using it or redeeming the points but to get the maximum points benefit you do have to watch what level you cash out on. the card cost me 120 a year for all our cards but i get a 100 back in points yearly so cost equals $20

Every retailer that accepts visa will also accept MC. I have never had my MasterCard refused anywhere. Amex is a little different, lots of places don't take Amex.

get a MasterCard from cibc or credit union, they are accepted everywhere that visa is and are great rewards cards imo.
