In this got to have it now world, a little patience goes a long way.

That works great if you don't need a loan for a month or two. Back in the day when I had barely two pennies to rub together that was very hard to do. My vehicle needed a new tire, had to do the loan shark companies. Couldn't wait 2-3 months to save it up. We didn't make a habit of it. We then started like you said, save 20-30 here and there and ended up with a credit card with low limit. " |

...mention what the loan was for, I can only make assumptions. If it is not for something urgent then patience here is key. If, in the example you gave, that a loan was needed to replace a tire then I would argue that you couldn't afford to own a car if you couldn't afford to maintain it. Again, in this "got to have it now" world, people don't think about how they spend their money and how it might affect their future choices.
We all have two choices. Earn more or spend less. People need to start living within their means and understand that purchases may involve future maintenance.
This is not directed at the OP. I have no knowledge of their situation.
